Access to Higher Education

Access to Higher Education (HE) aims to give people with significant life experience a fresh chance at education. It is a nationally recognised qualification representing an alternative to the traditional A Level route to university. You can complete a Health & Social Care (Nursing) or Science (Midwifery) pathway and previous students have progressed to a wide range of health, education and care related HE courses, such as degrees in Nursing, Social Work, Midwifery and Early Years Teaching. As well as giving you the chance to gain the academic skills you will need for higher level study, the course aims to support students so that they increase in confidence and develop interpersonal skills. There is no upper age limit for this course.

Entry Requirements: For the Heath & Social Care (Access to Nursing) pathway, you need GCSE English at grade C or above or an equivalent Level 2 qualification. GCSE Maths at grade C is preferable but not essential, as is recent science study. To join the Science (Access to Midwifery) pathway, You GCSEs at grade C or above in English, Maths and Science. For both pathways, you need an IELTS score of at least 5.5. Remember to check the entry requirements of your preferred university to ensure you can progress to the course of your choice.
