HNC/D Mechanical Engineering

This course is suitable for people currently or hoping to work in technical and management roles in Engineering. This course gives you the opportunity to complete specialist studies which are directly relevant to job roles. You will learn about a range of subjects, including Analytical Methods, Engineering Science, Mechanical Principles and Materials in Engineering. In the second year, you will complete a project developed using your own individual expertise and the skills you have gained during the course. Different delivery modes are available depending upon your starting qualification and whether you want to study full or part-time.

HNC: One Year (Full-Time); Two Years (Part-Time)


HNC: One Year (Full-Time); Two Years (Part-Time)

HND: Two Years (Full-Time), Three Years (Part-Time), 12-18 Months (Top up, Part-Time).

HNC: £4,800 per year (Full-Time); £2,500 per year (Part-Time)

HND: £5,600 per year (Full-Time); £3,200per year (Part-Time)

Entry Requirements: Maths GCSE grade B or above, plus National Diploma (previously Certificate day release), or Extended Diploma (previously National Diploma full-time) in Mechanical Engineering with a merit profile. If you already have the QCF Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering with merit profile or higher, you would only need to achieve eight units to receive an HNC and sixteen units to achieve the HND. Consequently, the time to achieve the HND is reduced.
