Preston Hall

Preston Hall is privately-managed student accommodation, situated ten minutes’ walk from Yeovil College University centre and within walking distance of the town centre with its main shopping and entertainment facilities and Tesco Superstore. There is also a bus service into the town centre.

The accommodation includes:

  • Single bed with under-bed drawer storage
  • High-quality pine furniture, including desk, chair, chest of drawers and wardrobe
  • Ceramic wash hand basin
  • BT Infinity Fibre Optic Broadband Wi-Fi internet (24 hour access)
  • Fully carpeted and curtained
  • TV point to external aerial (with boosted signal)
  • Central-heating radiator
  • Fire sensor and alarm
  • Multiple power points
  • Shower and toilet facilities
  • Kitchen facilities (including microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, freezer, cooker etc.)
  • Lounge facilities (including sofas, coffee tables, TV, DVD and free-to-air set top box)
  • Gas central heating
  • Washing machines and tumble dryers (£1 coin operated) in separate laundry
  • South-facing garden and external patio area with BBQ
  • Parking by permit for up to five cars
  • Students are expected to provide their own bedding, towels, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Car parking permits are available at a cost of £65 per three terms and are non transferable. Car parking is monitored by an external contractor. The garden is tended and the communal areas cleaned on a regular basis by the management.
  • The agreement you enter into with the owners of the accommodation will allow you to move into your room at 12 noon on the Friday before the start of the autumn term. The agreement will be valid until the end of the academic year and will terminate two weeks before the beginning of the following academic year to allow for re-painting and cleaning. Students are expected to stay for the entire three terms of the academic year and can stay in the property at their own discretion during the holidays.

    Your rent will be approximately £85 – £95 per week dependant on room size and location. Payment is termly and payable by three post-dated cheques. Cheques should be dated as follows: 1st September, 1st January and 1st April for each relevant year and should be returned with the agreement and the deposit.

    The weekly charge is inclusive of gas, electricity, water, council tax, cleaning of common areas and Broadband internet access. The only extra cost is the £1 coin operated washing machines and tumble dryers.

Preference will be given to first-year students. Rooms will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis subject to the completion of the rental agreement and payment of the required deposit. Preston Hall is open for tours during Yeovil College University Centre open events.
